🧟 Project Zomboid Modding Guide

Project Zomboid has one of the most active modding communities. Managing your mod list properly is the difference between a long-term survival run and a corrupted save.

📦 Installation Basics

A. Steam Workshop (Recommended)

Simply subscribe to the mod on Steam. In the main menu, go to Mods and ensure they are "Enabled."

B. Manual Installation

For mods not on the workshop, place them in: %USERPROFILE%\Zomboid\mods

🛠️ Conflict Resolution

If your game crashes or "Red Boxes" appear in the corner:

  1. Check the console.txt log in your Zomboid user folder.
  2. Ensure you have all Required Items (many mods depend on frameworks like "Tsar's Common Library").
  3. Try moving the problematic mod to the top or bottom of the load order.

[!TIP] Always back up your save folder (%USERPROFILE%\Zomboid\Saves) before adding new mods to an existing game.
