🔫 GTA V Modding Essentials

Modding GTA V requires precision. Incorrect installation can result in game crashes or, more importantly, a ban if you attempt to go online with modded files.

🛠️ Required Frameworks

Before installing any mod, you must have these:

  • Script Hook V: The core library that allows scripts to run.
  • OpenIV: The indispensable archive editor (.rpf files).
  • Community Script Hook V .NET: Required for many modern plugins.

🚗 The "/mods/" Folder Rule

This is the most important rule in GTA V modding.

  1. Open OpenIV and go to the ASI Manager.
  2. Install "OpenIV.asi". It will ask to create a mods folder.
  3. Always copy original game files (like update.rpf) into the mods folder before editing them. Never touch the original vanilla files.

📦 Vehicle Installation (Add-on)

  1. Navigate to mods/update/x64/dlcpacks using OpenIV.
  2. Drop your mod folder (e.g., vosan_car).
  3. Navigate to mods/update/update.rpf/common/data.
  4. Right-click dlclist.xml and select Edit.
  5. Add <Item>dlcpacks:/vosan_car/</Item> to the bottom of the list.
